The kind of girl I am.

…and I use ‘girl’ purposely.  My friend, Dawn and I have similar temperaments: that naive sort of ‘change the world so that I can rule it’ sort of enthusiasm and/or angle.  The other day I had talked her into this idea I had, as I am sometimes in need of a co-conspirator, about LA Fashion Week downtown.  I had heard the buzz regarding things regarding fashion (I am in the fashion district) and how they are seeking to bring it back to the district.  I got my hands on an email and decided that I wanted to check out the meager scene that I know nothing about: the world of fashion.  I wrote the email , knowing only designers and buyers were invited to the event, describing Diva Dawn, a mainly online and catalog retailer (to start) that is set to launch in Fall of ‘07.  I am a designer and working press, while Dawn is the owner/buyer of the construct, that will cater to women with athletic thighs…  I had politely insisted us to be put ‘on the list’.

I didn’t hear anything and forgot all about the idea.

..Until today, right before I was set to leave work and go on an adventure in Griffith Park (that I had been fantacizing about all day).  I didn’t know what to wear, or if I should go, or what, so I went running.  Over an hour later, I find myself wondering how I was going to get out of a coulee before dark ‘cuz I heard gang activity is fairly heavy there ‘after dark, BECKY!’ so I scampered through the most direct route, read ‘water route’, I could find, scaling some sort of a cliff/embankment/loose dirt hill and ending up scooting down using my hands and ass largely.  The picture flashed before me that, no matter what, I am the polar opposite of the people that would be at this function: the runway show with the new hot designers listening to Berko and Burn Proper and sipping frilly drinks as their dinner, only to puke them up later.  I still had my mind on it, even though it would have taken me a little bit to freshen myself in the public restroom and some seriously fast and wise shopping at Target in Hollywood to try to fake something on my way back down.  I called the Diva herself and she reminds me that 1. Basketball is on and 2. the bracket that I filled out for the “Clive Barker’s Midnight Meat Train” Cast and Crew Pool is doing really well.  I thought about it for a sec, as I am noticing my leg was bleeding, and remembered I have to work at 9 tomorrow, and although Fashion Week could have been hot, my bracket was way cooler, no doubt.

Too bad I picked AZ to go to #1.  Jerks.  Think that was the last straw for me and Tucson.

Word out,

BB
