Only in America-
Can a guy get famous and rich for soley being an asshole. Only in America can a guy preach on FOX News that he wants cultural integrity in the form of limiting what we listen to and watch, yet steal the ideology and all but plagerize Hunter’s book, Culture Wars, by renaming the spectacle Culture Warrior, only adding a personal opinion to it, in order to feed his ego and his pocketbook. Only in America can Bill O’Reilly become an icon and only in America do people actually listen to him and pay for him to be a blowhard (yea, I said, ‘blowhard’).
Only in America can a person go from absolute poverty to billionare with hard work and conviction and only in America can a person go from comfortable middle class to absolute poverty because of a medical emergency due to shit luck.
The no-spin zone makes no sense. I used to think people got that until his book advocating unity of this country by the way of everyone agreeing with HIM hit the NY Times bestseller list. I used to have hope in people’s senses and I used to think that gold sat at the bottom of the end of a rainbow. Bill O’Reilly can’t formulate an argument to save his life. Yet he’s a demigod. He’s a bully and he is divisive. That is all he really is. So why is he rich?
Bill O’Reilly says, “do you wanna live in HOLLAND OR DENMARK?!? OR do you wanna live in AMERICA?!”. I promptly asked my friend, Allan to marry me as my trap door to get out of the picture O’Reilly has for America. If that many people are gobbling it up like they appear to be gobbling up cake, we are not heading in the right direction and I need an out, I think.
I got a lot of theories and I won’t bore you with them, mostly because they are half-cooked. I have been ironing them out in the middles of nowheres for years and years while I train. At this point, the only certainty that I can arrive at is this: I am one angry bitch, and it pays to listen to people. Even Bill O’Reilly. It helps me understand. O’Reilly got rich and famous off of not listening to people’s ideas and jumping to conclusions.
Which leads me to a thoery my friend, Erica, and I have been working on for months now:
WHAT IF IT’S BACKWARDS DAY EVERYDAY? WHAT IF ETHICAL IS REALLY UNETHICAL AND UNETHICAL IS REALLY ETHICAL? WHAT IF THE WRONG WAY IS THE RIGHT WAY AND WE’VE BEEN TAUGHT WRONG ALL ALONG? What if the only way to succeed in this country is to lie, cheat, deceive and steal?
Could be. But, I ‘disagree with that assessment’.
I’m clamouring off the box now before someone tells me to stick to what I know. After all, I just have ‘cocktail party cred’…
